The Johnson-Pruitt Wedding | Columbia, Alabama Wedding Photographer

Jayla and Dustin married on December 18, 2010, at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Columbia, Alabama. When Thomas and I arrived at the church, we found Jayla and her bridesmaids listening to music, having their hair done and excitedly preparing for the big day. December 18th is also Jayla’s birthday, so soon after we arrived her bridesmaids sang her happy birthday and presented her with a cupcake.

Jayla was a stunning bride. When she put on her dress, everyone gasped in unison. The Cinderella-style dress couldn’t have been more perfect for this bride. And her shoes? Well they were better than Cinderella’s glass slippers. They were royal blue, glittery and had bright red soles. They were all-around amazing. When Jayla walked, the shoes sparkled, and those red soles flashed off of the pavement. So awesome!

After Jayla finished getting ready, Thomas went to find Dustin for their first look. Jayla was so excited, she practically ran down the aisle to Dustin. The two were so happy to see each other, and they couldn’t wait to become Mr. and Mrs.! After the two took a few minutes to take everything in, Jayla gave Dustin a gift- a pair of engraved cuff links. He’d been talking about buying a pair for weeks before the wedding, and she had to do everything but tell him that she had already purchased some for him, to keep him from buying some for himself. After Dustin put on the cuff links, we took a few photos of the two inside, and then we headed outside for a few more.

Jayla knew that she wanted to have some photos taken outside, and she had already scouted out areas around the church. There was an open field lined with trees behind the church, and it was the perfect place to photograph Jayla, Dustin and their wedding party. Even though it was super cold that day, everyone was more than happy to spend some time outside for photos. And we were super excited to have a fun group to photograph in such a beautiful place.

After the ceremony, Jayla and Dustin left the church in a horse-drawn carriage, just perfect for Cinderella and her Prince Charming. At the reception, Jayla and Dustin spent time greeting their guests, cut the cake and then when the band started, they partied like rock-stars on the dance floor with their guests. After an hour or so, Jayla surprised the guests and Dustin by making a quick wardrobe change. She came back out to the reception in a short tulle party dress and her snazzy blue shoes, just perfect for spinning around the dance floor.

Jayla and Dustin, along with their families, wedding party and guests, danced the night away. We had a marvelous time photographing such a fun reception. When the bride and groom prepared to leave, their guests saw them off with a sparkler exit. It was the perfect ending to a beautiful day.

Mr. and Mrs. Pruitt, thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your day. We had a wonderful time with you guys! We wish you both all of the happiness in the world. Be blessed!

And to the lovely vendors we worked alongside, thank you!
