A Little Bit of Big News | T2 Photography

Wow. It seems like we’ve been waiting to make this announcement forever. {And before your minds even go there…No!:)We’re not adding to our family yet! We are still a very happy family of two people and two dogs.} But since our announcement about going full-time, this is definitely the biggest change we’ve made.

After lots of prayer, thinking about the future, and a whole lot of hard work, Thomas and I have moved! As most of you already know, we love to travel, and we want to travel everywhere and anywhere to shoot weddings. So really, this announcement is mostly personal. T2 Photography does have a new base camp, though. We have moved from Huntsville, Alabama to Auburn, Alabama. We’ve been in the midst of this move for a while {which is one of the reasons we’ve been so quiet}, but we wanted to wait to make the announcement until we found a home. On Tuesday we signed a lease on a darling little house that is just perfect for us {and our pups}. I know that Huntsville to Auburn doesn’t sound like a huge change to many of you, but for us, it’s definitely big. Two trips from Huntsville to Auburn, one 26-foot UHaul, one 12-foot UHaul trailer, three storage units, two weeks with my parents and about a thousand phone calls about rental houses later…we have found a home, and we officially have an Auburn address. So yes…for us? That’s a pretty big undertaking and a pretty exciting change.

As I said, we have been praying about this for a while. Once Thomas and I both went full-time, it simply made sense to move closer to family. Although we have no plans to have children in the immediate future, we would one day like to expand our little family. We also realize, that once we do have kids, our families will be {an even more} critical part of our business’ success. For me to continue shooting weddings with Thomas, we will need to have grandparents, aunts and uncles close by, so that they can help keep the {hypothetical-future} babies while we’re shooting.

That was not the only reason we made this decision, though. We’ve been blessed with really wonderful families…and quite honestly? I’ve missed them during these past three years. I think that being away for a while has been a super important critical time in our marriage, though. We learned to rely on each other…and only each other. If we hadn’t moved away from our families? I’m pretty sure that T2 Photography may never have been born. Not that they would have inhibited our growth or shot down our dreams, because they have done the exact opposite of that. They have been our biggest cheerleaders, believing in our dreams since the very beginning. But more because I’m not sure that the creative growth that happened within us and between us would have happened if we hadn’t had that important time of us just being us…just the two of us…learning more about each other and growing closer together everyday. But now? I’m so excited to plant roots…to be closer to the people I love and to continue growing this business, this part of our hearts, to what we know that it can become.

I spent many years of my life in Auburn, and although I always loved “The Loveliest Village On The Plains,” I can’t say that I ever thought I would move back. But God had other plans for Thomas and me, and we couldn’t be more excited about being back in Auburn. We love the community, we have lots of friends here, there are tons of other young professionals in the area, and we’re excited to plant the roots of our family and the roots of our business in this lovely city.

And we’re also pretty excited to be closer to Atlanta….because like I said, we have big dreams about traveling all over for weddings. We plan to make many flights from that airport, because we wanna see the world!:)

We hope that you’ll help spread the word about us…wherever you are. If you’re in Auburn, we’d love for you to tell your neighbors and friends! But those of you in Tempe, Arizona, and those of you in Baltimore, Maryland? And to our friends reading this Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lakeville, Minnesota? And even those of you in India, China, Canada and Australia? We’d love for you to tell your friends too! We’ll gladly bring our cameras, our style, and our oh-so-subtle accents, and we’ll come to photograph your most important moments too!

More updates coming soon. Yep. That’s right. We’re not done yet. But until then, I’ll leave you with a few photos of Thomas and me. One evening a couple of weeks ago, we grabbed our cameras, jumped in my car and stopped at one of my favorite antique stores just to play for a bit. {We’re making a conscious effort to take more photos of each other.} So here we are…out from behind the camera {for the most part}!

Until next time, be blessed!

The Hastings-Dobbins Wedding | Scottsboro Wedding Photographer

Scott and Casey married at Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Scottsboro, Ala., on July 17th, 2010. Scott and Casey have become very dear friends, so it was super special to capture the day they became husband and wife. It was a lovely afternoon ceremony, and the reception took place at Goose Pond Plantation in Scottsboro right after. Casey used lemons, yellow flowers and daisies as table decor. It was a lovely day, we were honored to be there and we feel blessed to call Casey and Scott friends. Mr. & Mrs. Dobbins, we wish you two all of the happiness in the world! Thanks for allowing us to be present on your wedding day. Be blessed!

What We’ve Been Up To…

Hey there, friends! So it’s been over a month since our last blog post. Please forgive us…there has been a LOT going on! Here’s a little summary of all that’s happened in the past month…

We spent some time with my sister, her mom & my nieces.

We traveled to North Carolina for the fourth of July. We spent time with family, enjoyed the scenery & went to lots of antique stores.

We celebrated a good friend’s 25th birthday.

We photographed some beautiful ladies.

We photographed three lovely weddings. {More photos still to come.}

And we celebrated my favorite person {in the whole world}’s 27th birthday.

{And I have absolutely no photos of him. But we’re fixing that this weekend!}

We’re also working on two very big projects…and I’m DYING to blurt all about them right now, but I think Thomas might strangle me if I do.

So please be patient, and please stay tuned. I promise, we’ll be bringing you some big stuff soon.;)

Kelli & Chuck | Auburn Engagement Photographer

Oh my goodness! I don’t even know where to start with this e-session. It was fun, different, all over the place, and pretty much all-around-wonderful. When I spoke to Kelli about her {and Chuck’s} e-session, I was so excited to learn that we had very similar ideas. Chuck has a friend who has a beautiful farm in Auburn, so she wanted to shoot there, and we were thinking that a session at a farmer’s market would be fun. When I told Kelli that, she loved the idea too, and she suggested the Blooming Colors Market {a cute farmer’s market that I didn’t know about yet}. The market is behind Blooming Colors Nursery, and also has a lovely little restaurant inside of it, Crepe Myrtle Cafe. When I called the market to see if they were OK with us shooting there, the manager was just as excited by the idea as Kelli and I were!

We met Kelli and Chuck at their home in Auburn, where we snapped a few photos of them with their pups. Then we headed over to the farmer’s market, and it was absolutely wonderful. Kelli and Chuck goofed around, played, acted silly and were so much fun to photograph. After we finished up at the farmer’s market, we headed over to Chuck’s friend’s farm, and it was amazing. Thomas and I were seriously in heaven. Every place on the farm had so much potential. We were like kids in a candy store, and we couldn’t decide where to shoot first. We all had a blast…I think Chuck even had a good time. {He and Thomas spent a good bit of the time between photos talking about hunting, tractors, and other masculine things, so I think that made it a bit more bearable.};)Kelli and I had lots of fun too…but we talked more about wedding stuff and stayed out of the boys’ hunting conversations.

One of my favorite things about the day? Before we left, Chuck told us he figured a session like that would be a good thing to do about once a year. When I asked him why, he said he thought it would probably be good for a marriage. {I’m pretty sure because of all the huggy, kissy and lovey stuff involved in the session.} That was the first time anyone had ever said that to us…and I loved it. I especially love that it came from the groom.

I’ve reeeeeaaallly struggled to choose photos for this post because there are so many fun moments, great expressions and lovely details, so I’ve included a lot here. There are lots more, but we wanted to leave a few surprises for Kelli and Chuck.

Did I mention Chuck can juggle? {So fun!}

And I almost forgot…another awesome moment of the day?! When we were on the farm we stopped to take some photos by the pond, and two alligators decided to make an appearance. One even hung around and posed for some photos.

Kelli and Chuck, we had such fun spending the afternoon with y’all!;)Let’s do it again soon…but maybe we’ll leave the cameras at home {for a little while} next time. We are super excited about photographing your wedding…I know it’s going to be a blast too!

{Special thanks to the folks at the Blooming Colors Market for the hospitality. We loved everything about the market, and we can’t wait to come back for lunch at the cafe!}
